Ingredients:
• 1 (18.25 ounces) package of chocolate cake mix
• 1/2 gallon ice cream, any flavor
• 1 (12 ounces) container of frozen whipped topping, thawed
• 1/2 cup chocolate syrup
• 1/4 cup chopped nuts (optional)
• Maraschino cherries for garnish (optional)
Directions:
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and flour a 9×13-inch baking pan.
- Prepare the chocolate cake mix according to the package instructions. Pour the batter into the prepared baking pan.
- Bake in the preheated oven for 25-30 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean. Allow the cake to cool completely.
- Once the cake is cool, remove the ice cream from the freezer to soften slightly.
- Spread the softened ice cream over the cooled cake in an even layer.
- Place the cake in the freezer for at least 2 hours, or until the ice cream is firm.
- Remove the cake from the freezer and spread the thawed whipped topping over the ice cream layer.
- Drizzle the chocolate syrup over the whipped topping and sprinkle with chopped nuts, if desired.
- Garnish with maraschino cherries, if using.
- Return the cake to the freezer and freeze until ready to serve.
